Not As Smart As A Third-Grader

At work today I was asked a question, as part of a game, that any third-grader (supposedly) would be able to answer:

What is the outermost layer of Earth's atmosphere called?

Uh...

And boy, do I HATE not knowing the answer to a question. Especially a question an 8 year old should be able to answer.

But - honestly - did you know the answer before you went and Googled it?

For you readers too lazy to Google, and curious enough to check the comments...

The answer is the exosphere.
